You want to stay fit, but you don’t know how? Well, here are five power foods that can help you do just that.

Looking for ways to stay healthy and fit is an important part of life. You need to make sure your body is getting all the nutrients it needs in order to function properly. This means eating a balanced diet every single day. But what if you’re having trouble finding time to cook or meal prep? What if you live on campus and have no access to a kitchen? There are still things you can do! Here are five power foods that will keep your body strong and healthy throughout the week:

  1. Avocados- These green gems contain more potassium per ounce than bananas do! They also have an incredible amount of fiber which helps us feel full for longer periods of time. Try adding them on top of a salad or using them as spreads on sandwiches instead of mayo!
  2.  Oats – oats are rich in fiber which makes them great for keeping hunger at bay. They also contain beta glucan which has been shown in studies to reduce cholesterol levels.
  3. Quinoa – quinoa is an excellent source of protein and contains all nine amino acids so it’s considered a complete protein! It also provides all the essential minerals our bodies need on a daily basis including magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc and calcium.
  4. Watermelon  – The best thing about watermelon is it’s high water content, which means it will fill you up faster than other fruits and vegetables. It also contains an amino acid called arginine, which has been shown in studies done at UCLA on mice as having the ability to increase heart function and lower blood pressure (Wishart).
  5. Salmon  – A staple in many diets around the world, salmon is known as an omega 3 powerhouse food because of its high levels of DHA and EPA (omega 3 fatty acids). Omega 3 has been linked to helping reduce cardiovascular disease risk in addition to several other benefits including improved brain function during aging and decreasing inflammation
